Great friendly staff. Good quality food and fast service. They know what the pretheatre crowd wants! Yanson dined on Fri 01 Jun 2012 at 6:30 PM

I've had the sweet potato and leek ravioli twice now and it's been absolutely delicious each time rich but delicious! Service was very friendly and they can cope with the preshow rush without feeling like you are rushed and still have time for two courses.

We arrived late for a Pre Theatre meal and there was no issues. Staff were friendly. Food was great. The steaks were done to perfection.

Script is a well organised outfit right in the middle of Southbank's theatre district. Cheerful staff, good quality menu and prompt delivery on orders, the best spot around for pretheatre meals in easy walking distance to a range of venues.

Because of my granddaughter's allergies, we need special attention, and at Script Bar and Bistro we get that attention in spades! Last night's dish was on the menu, not specially prepared, and that's a good change. It was delicious and very filling. My granddaughter couldn't eat all of hers, and I probably shouldn't have. The service is always friendly.

Script bistro is such an asset to theatre goers whether dinner before the evening show or after the 4pm matinee. The service is fast and pleasant. We enjoyed barbecue chicken with kipfler potatoes and grilled eggplant and spaghetti marinara. Both served within fifteen minutes and we were all done within and hour with a bill under $80 which included two drinks.

We booked Script for pretheatre dinner, prior to attending a concert at Elisabeth Mudoch Hall (Melbourne Recital Centre), in the same building.Service was friendly and efficient. Our eye fillet, char grilled chicken and side salad meals were well prepared and presented. My wife's plate could have been recycled straight to another diner, she cleaned it up that well! The house red, a shiraz from Avoca, Victoria was excellent in terms of taste and value.Would definitely dine there again prior to attending a concert or play at the venue.

It's hard to believe Melbourne's newest addition to an already bustling nightlife scene has only been open for two weeks. Stepping into Script Bar & Bistro is like walking into a favourite local - there is charm, charisma, a relaxed ambience and also the feeling its been around for years.

With 20 years clocked up between them managing high end function venues such as the Arts Centre and Zinc at Federation Square, you'd expect nothing less from brothers Adam and Brendan Keyte. Located at the striking new MTC venue on Southbank, the usual beer swilling crowd has been replaced with a more sophisticated theatre-loving clientele.

But this is not a place where beret-clad men look down at you while quipping about the new avant-garde masterpiece. Script is a warm and friendly place to relax, where friendly staff cater diligently to local residents, business types and students gathered to dissect the day - or the latest play.

There's an astonishing wine list (29 wines by the glass) and enough local and imported beers to keep the fussiest drinkers happy. There's also an Italian style bistro menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a post-show supper. And with specialty dishes including bocconcini and tepenade ficelle, or green olive salmon, it's comprehensive and focuses on seasonal local produce.

Top it off with what is set to become a Script favourite - chocolate budino, a dark chocolate pudding with warm bitter caramel and double cream. With good food and wine and tempting dinner and show packages on the way, the two week old Script should soon be a Melbourne favourite.

You'd want to be a fly on the wall at Script, the name of the bar and bistro befitting the MTC's Sumner Theatre in Southbank. Ever since the doors were opened by hospitality duo Brendan and Adam Keyte, brothers of Jennifer Keyte, a who's who has paraded in. Diners have gaped over their coffee and vino at Geoffrey Rush, Nicki Wendt, Hugo Weaving, Max Gillies, Missy Higgins and some faces that have strolled in from nearby Aunty, Barrie Cassidy, Jon Faine and Red Symons.
